{"id":465,"date":"2013-09-24T12:00:01","date_gmt":"2013-09-24T17:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rdsadvantage.com\/?p=465"},"modified":"2015-09-23T05:42:24","modified_gmt":"2015-09-23T10:42:24","slug":"why-cloud-computing-makes-sense","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rdsadvantage.com\/v1\/why-cloud-computing-makes-sense\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Cloud Computing Makes Sense"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the Fall 2013 issue of the NACBA Ledger (National Association of Church Business Administration) is an article about cloud computing by Joan Benson, senior Product Marketing Manager at Intacct Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>She describes the benefits of the use of cloud computing by churches.<\/p>\n<p>Here are quotes from the article:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Significant enhancements and adoption of cloud computing has opened the door for faith-based organizations to benefit greatly from the latest innovation in technology.<\/li>\n<li>A Nonprofit Technology Network survey reports that over 90% of respondents are using some kind of cloud-based software solution.<\/li>\n<li>When asked why they were using cloud solutions, the nonprofits surveyed listed primary drivers as mobility and cost.<\/li>\n<li>More than 42% of survey respondents cited &#8220;remote access&#8221; as an advantage. More than 50% cited &#8220;cost&#8221; as a factor in their selection process.<\/li>\n<li>With the cloud, organizations can dramatically reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by eliminating hardware costs and reducing software and IT costs. The cloud eliminates the burden of installing, maintaining, and upgrading software solutions, reducing dependence on scarce IT resources, and freeing up staff&#8217;s time to focus on the congregation&#8217;s mission.<\/li>\n<li>With cloud computing faith-based organizations also get the benefit of reducing their technology risk with enterprise-class security, backups, and disaster recovery \u00e2\u20ac\u201c at a much lower cost than doing it themselves.<\/li>\n<li>Congregations can benefit from levels of privacy and security that far exceed what their on-premises solutions can offer. This capability results in a level of security that individual organizations cannot match.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The dollar amount of monthly support for RDS Connect is more than when hosted on-site because RDS provides the Cloud server, performs daily backups, installs upgrades and manages the system.
