RDS Technical Information

RDS is a native Windows© application that can be operated on any of the popular operating systems such as Windows 2003/2008 Server R2/Windows 7, 8, and 10. It is efficient on networks operated in either peer-to-peer or client/server mode. Its ISAM file structure gives it speed, security and dependability.

Its intuitive user-interface emphasizes functionality. Its design focus is to provide users with the ability to accomplish the most work with the least effort and time.

RDS Advantage© is a 32 and 64 bit normalized RDBMS (relational database management system). Any piece of data entered once can be accessed and used anyplace else in the system without additional data entry. It is written in an object oriented, client/server programming environment. Applications are modularized, which provides greater processing speed and places less overhead on hardware and networks.

Normalization is the highest standard for a relational database. It means each data item is entered and stored in the database one time, one place. This eliminates redundancy and opportunities for corrupted data and inefficient processing.

Modular programming is a software design technique that increases the extent to which software is composed of separate, interchangeable components called modules by breaking down program functions into modules, each of which accomplishes one function and contains everything necessary to accomplish this.

Cloud-hosted RDS Connect© serves Windows and Mac users. XenServer is powered by Xen hypervisor, with Microsoft Windows Server© 2008 R2 Hyper-VI. Microsoft’s next-generation hypervisor runs virtual machines running independent operating systems.

Tier III Data Centers provide geographic diversity with twenty-six fully-featured data centers, for maintaining system and data redundancy,

RDS Connect© applications and data are hosted on Tier Three data centers, one of the highest standards for data center security and reliability. A Tier Three data center is rated for 99.982 percent site availability. Data transmitted between local computers and the Cloud is 256 bit SSL encrypted with certified 2048 bit encryption. The Tier III Data Centers plus 256 bit encryption qualifies RDS Connect as SaSS (Software as a SecureService).

The system is ODBC enabled (Open Database Connectivity).

It is powered by the Synergy development environment (Synergy/DE©) from Synergex. This portable and scalable framework enables RDS Advantage© to deploy native Windows applications while integrating seamlessly with emerging technologies, such as Web data access, e-commerce solutions, and third party software.

Synergy/DE© has a long track record backed by millions of end-users worldwide, and a substantial presence in a multitude of vertical industries. Through its open architecture design, the system is not limited by hardware manufacturers or operating systems.

It is both a multi-user and multi-entity application. It is multi-user in that any number of users can be simultaneously entering data, printing, or making inquiries, protected by file and record locking. It is multi-enterprise in that data processing can be done for a number of completely different entities, with complete security of data for each. The multi-entity capability makes it useful to support multiple church plants and locations on one RDS installation.
